Berkeley Lake Hail and Wind Damage Repair
Storm passed? Let's see what it left behind and get it fixed.
The Damage Hiding Up There
Right after a storm, most folks step outside, glance up and breathe a sigh of relief when nothing looks out of place. We get it. The catch is that hail and wind rarely leave obvious holes. Hailstones usually leave little bruises instead, knocking the sandy coating off a shingle and cracking the layer underneath. You won't see them from the lawn, but a couple of summers of sun and rain will turn them into leaks. Wind plays a different trick. A strong gust can lift a shingle, snap the tar strip that keeps it sealed and then set it back down looking perfectly normal, right up until the next blow carries it into the neighbor's yard. Hail also leaves dimples in the softer metal up there, like vent caps, flashing and gutters, and those dimples tell us how big the stones were. Every now and then a tree limb comes down too, and when one does, we check the wood beneath it. That's why we climb up and go slope by slope, circling hail hits with chalk, gently lifting shingles to test their seal and photographing what we find. Afterward we'll sit with you, scroll through the pictures and give you our honest read: small fix, new roof or worth a claim.
